MATERIALS USED

All cast components are investment cast [lost wax process] by foundries in the USA using the best stainless steel available.
• Cast, #316 stainless steel and Duplex stainless steel for strength and durability
• Two sets of glass-balled, ball bearings on the wind train for extra sensitivity and smooth performance, and maximum resistance to sea water.
• Stainless steel balled bearings, housed in Delrin ball races, on the servo system. Low friction, maximum sensitivity, extra smooth performance
• Stainless steel balled thrust bearing
• The brackets are cast, #316 stainless steel [not bent sheet metal] and are extremely strong. All castings are virtually unbreakable.
• No structural welds
• Mounting tubes, outer servo-axle tubes and servo-rudder tubes are stainless steel. Wall thickness varies between 16 gauge to 0.125”
• UV resistant, ultra-light Polycarbonate wind blades with two struts for extra strength
• Electro-polished finish
• Made in the U.S.A.
• No maintenance required. Wash down occasionally with fresh water

Four Models available. Choice dependant on size of
boat and freeboard on the transom Replacement parts [if ever needed] are readily available. Any repairs that may arise can be done on board with tools on hand.

INVESTMENT CASTING

[Lost wax process]
The process of investment casting begins with wax being injected into the aluminum die. The wax expendable pattern is then assembled onto a preformed runner system to form a cluster, the assembly is then dipped and coated with a re-factory material several times to form a ceramic shell, into which the molten alloy will eventually be poured.

With the mold finally coated and allowed to set, it is then de-waxed and fired at high temperature. After cooling the molds are preheated in readiness to receive the liquid metal. When the cast assembly is cool the shell is removed to expose the casting so it can be cut from the runner system and cleaned for final inspection.

By using the investment casting system to produce our castings we have minimized our labor and handling costs and are therefore able to offer the NORVANE self-steering wind vane to you at a very competitive price. We are extremely proud of the workmanship that has gone into producing our product and have full confidence in our customer satisfaction
