FITTING The NORVANE is designed for easy “do it yourself” installation
and is attached to the vessel with either a four, five or six point,
multi-positioned system that will fit most transom configurations;
•
“Double enders” no problem
•
Off-center positions for stairs and davits works equally well (center
mounting is best)
•
Mizzens are also no problem. The NORVANE is available in four models. Choice depends on the
size of the boat and freeboard on the transom. The NORVANE is attached to the vessel with our easily adaptable
and sturdy mounting system using stainless steel tubing and cast,
stainless steel brackets that can be positioned where-so-ever it
is decided to be the most suitable for the vessel. For optimum performance the unit should be mounted at the most
central position available on the back of the boat and must be
able to swing freely. The main holding bracket and tube can be fitted either on deck
or on the transom and can be raised with a hardwood block if necessary.
The brackets are cast, #316 stainless steel therefore extremely
strong and rigid. The brackets should be attached to the strongest points on the
vessel; usually close to the deck/hull joint or backstay chain-plate
where the hull is already strengthened; or other strengthening
ribs or struts. All the hull attachment points should be well reinforced. [Remember that the weakest part of the wind vane is the hull of
the vessel “a chain is only as strong as its weakest link”]
